High solid acrylic polyols comprising hydroxy functional acrylic copolymers/resins are provided having hydroxyl functionality sourced through renewable and modified castor oil. The renewable content of these resins can be as high as 70% on resin solids, providing economical and sustainable polymers for high performance coatings with low volatile organic component content for decorative and industrial use.
